The second day of the week has arrived. I was looking forward to the Physical Education lesson today as I heard we would be playing some games instead of running 2.4 km like last week. I quickly changed into my PE attire after my science class and waited for further instructions. A while later we were told to assemble in the Indoor Sports Hall downstairs. My classmates and I eagerly ran down the stairs and assembled downstairs in a short period of time.

The teacher split us up into two groups. The group that I was in was assigned to play soccer at the field. We were split up into teams immediately once we were there. The game started a few minutes late as we had to carry the other teams goalpost. The enemy team scored in less than 2 minutes after the game had started with a great kick. We then started to get anxious. I failed to snatch the ball from the enemy after several attempts but I was not discouraged. The enemy team then scored another goal skillfully with a header.

Time was running out for us and I knew we had to do something fast. I charged towards the enemy with a sliding tackle and somehow, successfully took the ball from them! It was the first time I ever successfully slide tackled a person. I felt very excited back then; the motivation of winning all came back to me. I quickly passed the ball to a teammate of mine who scored a goal that the goalkeeper almost stopped. After another round of passing the ball, it came back to me near the enemy’s goal! I knew that this was a great opportunity and decided to kick the ball with a jump kick. However, I jumped too high and my leg flew over the ball by an inch. Everyone on the field was saying “What the…?!” After I landed, I tried to kick the ball again. The enemy’s goalkeeper came fast towards me and, in a state of nervousness; I kicked the ball inaccurately and lost the chance of scoring for the first time in my life.

Though I failed to score my life’s first goal, in soccer, I still feel that this was one of the best matches I ever had as I got to make contact with the ball so many times. I hope that I will be enjoy a match like this again soon.
