A game of Doraemon Monopoly

“A special moment you enjoyed with your family” When I saw this topic, I could not help but think of what happened four years ago…

My father bought a Doraemon Monopoly board game for my younger sister at a night market. When we reached home, my younger sister took out the Doraemon Monopoly board game from the plastic bag. My father saw the game pieces and found them interesting. He then said he wanted to play the game with the whole family.

We laid out the board game onto the floor of my room. We started to choose the chess piece. My father chose the big bully called Goda, which is usually know as Gian. I chose Nobita, the weakling and the super useless bum. My sister chose Doraemon and my mother chose Dorami.

We started the game after choosing the characters. The game was played with two dices, a deck of  “Chance” cards and some money. We had to roll the dice and move forward our game pieces the number of steps indicated on the dice. If we stepped on a “Chance” box, we would have to draw a card from the deck of cards and do what it says. Some of the instructions on the card were really funny. An example is sticking out your tongue and jumping around. I was reluctant to do it as first, but I thought that since this is a game, why not? We also had to acquire properties and collect rent from the people who stepped on it. The player who goes bankrupt loses and the game ends when only one player remains. My mother lost first as she bought too many properties and kept stepping on rent boxes. My sister was next as she stepped on a tile which required her to pay more than what she had, so she was out.

It was then a match between my father and me. The air was very tense. Every step moved could cause a fortune. I kept stepping on rent boxes while my father mysteriously avoided most of them. I ended up stepping on a rent box that caused me to lose my entire fortune. My father then told me “Nobita can never win Gian, hahaha….”. I laughed at admitted my defeat.

What a great day we had then. :)

The Right Decision

It was a pretty normal Friday. Just like any other Friday. I had to go to NPCC today again. We were instructed to print out an application form and hand it up in today’s training. I took out the form and filled it up.

My friend, Travis, saw what I was doing and came over to my desk. He took a look at my form and said, “You didn’t let your parents sign the form?” I was confused by what he said. I looked at the bottom of the form where it said “Parents Signature”. I was shocked! I did not notice that this form had to be signed when I was printing it yesterday! My mind was in a whirl. I did not know what to do. Before I could think of a plan, the teacher arrived and started teaching the class.

I could not keep myself focused on what the teacher taught. Thoughts of getting punished by my officers sent a chill down my spine. It was then when an idea can to my mind. “I could forge the signature. I might get away with it and no one would know what has happened!” I took up my pen and was ready to forge the signature, but my conscience held me back. “Am I doing the right thing? Should I just admit and accept my punishment, or should I forge the signature?” Time was running out and I was still struggling between the decisions.

I finally decided not to forge the signature as it was a dishonest move and if I were caught doing it, the punishments would be a lot more severe. Luckily, my officers did not collect the form and asked us to bring it next training. I heaved a sigh of relief and went home with a smile on my face. The day ended quite well for me and I was glad that I had made the right choice.

What a great day :D

The Search For The Lost Badge

One more day before the Secondary One students join the squad. Many other Secondary Two students would be looking forward to tomorrow, but I was not. I had lost one of my badges and I needed to wear it for tomorrow on my Uniform. Luckily, I heard from one of my friends that a shop in Beach Road sold it. That lifted my spirits up immediately. I decided to go to the shop after school today.
I rushed out of the class after we were dismissed. My friend told me that the shops close rather early and I would be late if I did not rush to it. After a long bus journey, I finally reached the wholesale market.
There were a variety of shops there, each selling different uniform parts for the uniformed groups. I felt kind of nervous as I had never been here before. The stores were quite narrow and were close to each other. I could not see the badge anywhere. I decided to gather up my courage and ask one of the shopkeepers. She then told me the store number of the store that sold it. I thanked her and went looking for it.
It was difficult to look for the store as most of the shopkeepers hanged bags or uniforms on the ceiling which caused the store numbers to be covered. I finally found the store after a long walk. I saw the badge and heaved a sigh or relieve before buying it from the shopkeeper.
After this experience, I had learnt how to organize my things at home so that I would not lose them again. I was lucky that the badge could be bought, otherwise I would have to be severely punished by my Non-commissioned officers or Station Inspectors. I hope that such an incident would not happen again.

The second day of the week has arrived. I was looking forward to the Physical Education lesson today as I heard we would be playing some games instead of running 2.4 km like last week. I quickly changed into my PE attire after my science class and waited for further instructions. A while later we were told to assemble in the Indoor Sports Hall downstairs. My classmates and I eagerly ran down the stairs and assembled downstairs in a short period of time.

The teacher split us up into two groups. The group that I was in was assigned to play soccer at the field. We were split up into teams immediately once we were there. The game started a few minutes late as we had to carry the other teams goalpost. The enemy team scored in less than 2 minutes after the game had started with a great kick. We then started to get anxious. I failed to snatch the ball from the enemy after several attempts but I was not discouraged. The enemy team then scored another goal skillfully with a header.

Time was running out for us and I knew we had to do something fast. I charged towards the enemy with a sliding tackle and somehow, successfully took the ball from them! It was the first time I ever successfully slide tackled a person. I felt very excited back then; the motivation of winning all came back to me. I quickly passed the ball to a teammate of mine who scored a goal that the goalkeeper almost stopped. After another round of passing the ball, it came back to me near the enemy’s goal! I knew that this was a great opportunity and decided to kick the ball with a jump kick. However, I jumped too high and my leg flew over the ball by an inch. Everyone on the field was saying “What the…?!” After I landed, I tried to kick the ball again. The enemy’s goalkeeper came fast towards me and, in a state of nervousness; I kicked the ball inaccurately and lost the chance of scoring for the first time in my life.

Though I failed to score my life’s first goal, in soccer, I still feel that this was one of the best matches I ever had as I got to make contact with the ball so many times. I hope that I will be enjoy a match like this again soon.

The moment i spent alone at home.

Today was the first day of the week, I reached home extra early because of the half day our principal had given us. There was no one home when I returned, I guess it was because they did not know I would come back so early and decided to go shopping for groceries. After eating my early lunch, I sat down on my sofa in the living room and dazed there for a few minutes, thinking of what I should do.

An idea then came to my mind! I went to my computer, switched it on, searched for background music of a online game that I play and listened to it while I relaxed on my chair. I personally enjoy listening to music very much, except that I had to turn it softer when my family was at home. I then thought, “ I wonder how clear the music would be with the stereo in the living room?”

Without hesitation, I brought my laptop to my living room and connected it the stereo with a USB cable and enjoyed the music, clear and loud. It really sounded a lot better than playing it straight with my laptop’s speaker and everyone should try it too. I relaxed myself on my sofa with a cushion supporting my head and closed my eyes. It went on for about two hours until I heard footsteps along the corridor. I then disconnected the USB cable quickly and carried my laptop back into my bedroom.

Although it did not last forever, I thoroughly enjoyed myself today. I hope that days like this will come again soon.
